Sustrans are proud to announce the launch of an exciting new scheme in Bike It schools during the Spring term.
Sustrans Heroes is one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme, which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
Sustrans Heroes will run in the lead-up to the big event and will give pupils an opportunity to see how the Olympic and Paralympic values relate to their daily life, whilst promoting the positive health, environmental and economical benefits of cycling.
Heroes encourages children to celebrate the 2012 Games through completing a number of cycle related tasks and activities in order to achieve a bronze, silver or gold award. The booklet for the challenge has seven sections each relating to one of the seven Olympic or Paralympic Values.
If you are a Bike It school and would like more information about Sustrans Heroes, please contact your local Bike It officer using the “Where’s Bike It” section of this website.
It’s free for Bike It schools to take part in and a great way to continue to promote cycling at your school.
