The festival, aimed at promoting the fun side of cycling and encouraging people to get on their bikes has been jam packed with an array of events culminating in the One Planet Festival at City Hall on Saturday which looked at celebrating what people, active networks and projects in Cardiff are doing to live smart, sustainable, 21st Century lifestyles.
The exciting two week-long festival celebrated the bicycle, cycling and the vibrant community that surrounds it. Some of the more creative events included themed yoga, knitting sessions, and a cycle themed art exhibition! Saturday saw the One Planet Festival event at City Hall which included a wide range of activities including interactive stalls, solar powered live music and street entertainers and even a Cycle Chic Fashion show!
Deputy Leader Cllr Ralph Cook was on hand at City Hall to unveil the consultation of a new Cardiff: One Planet City vision document. The document sets out the Council's vision of being a sustainable city and residents of Cardiff were asked to give their feedback.
Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, Highways, Traffic and Transportation, Cllr Ralph Cook:, said: " The world is changing and its very important that Cardiff responds. There was a fantastic turn out throughout Cardiff Cycle Festival and it’s brilliant to see so many people getting on their bikes and making a contribution to making Cardiff a happy, clean, green city. In short it's about making Cardiff an even better place to live in 2050 than it already is now.”
