Cycle

Enfys Public Art Design Competition

Cardiff Council is committed to developing a fully linked up strategic cycle network. Through public consultation we identified a network of 9 key routes linking the city centre and secondary radial routes.

In April 2011 we launched a competition to name Cardiff’s cycle network, with Enfys (Welsh for rainbow) being selected as the winning name. We think the brightly coloured logo makes a confident statement about the future of cycling in Cardiff.

Signage

Each key route will be signed using the specific colour coding for the route for easier identification, an example of which is below:

The competition

In addition to the signage we would like to add some art work to further promote the key routes. Along each route there are a number of BT and Virgin Media cabinets which we have permission to turn into public art! This is where you come in.

We are looking for people to design the artwork which will be replicated on the front panels of the cabinets.

The winning artwork will promote Enfys, Cardiff’s cycle network and so we would ask that you incorporate a cycling theme in your designs.

How?

In person

Come down to Unit 2/4 in the Royal Arcade between the 28th of September and the 14th of October from 10am-4pm where we will have all the materials you need to show off your design skills.
